I've taken the plunge and have bought a sub. I'm on the RP OPVE server, Defias Brotherhood at the moment. It's much more relaxed than Warhammer Online - I think the focus to grind in RVR (realm v realm) is damaging, you find yourself surrounded by stressed out adolescents much of the time. I'm enjoying WoW at the moment, the world is beautiful to explore, and there is so much of it!

well, I've been playing WOW for more than a year, and the stressed out teenagers are a plague in there too. The good thing is, as u mention Lilu, that you can choose RP realms, which, for some (blessed) reason, are not chosen by this kind of subrace of mad adolescents
Anyway, when some of the realms are down, they just come to the RP and start shouting like stupids.
