Posted by Szczepan the Red Oh, right, it's not fantasy xD. Well, steampunk is, but a (not alter)historic movie rather isn't? I feel like I'm completely not inputting any value here, so I stop spamming ஜ۩۞۩ஜஜ۩۞۩ஜஜ۩۞۩ஜஜ۩۞۩ஜஜ۩۞۩ஜஜ۩۞۩ஜ ]>>:-◑} > I'm ℭ₮ℋℰℜℒ☼ℛÐ, I drink Ether on breakfast! ஜ۩۞۩ஜஜ۩۞۩ஜஜ۩۞۩ஜஜ۩۞۩ஜஜ۩۞۩ஜஜ۩۞۩ஜ |

Making suggestions is exactly what we want But I'd also agree that Sherlock Holmes isn't really fantasy, it's fiction, but not "sort of high fantasy". It could however be a wonderful soundtrack, never heard it though Friggin Lord Elrond! |

Posted by Elrond I was also doubting if it was fantasy, but mentioning never hurts. Personally I like it. I'm actually quite intrested to see what will be seen as fantasy and what not. For example while browsing trough some of my favorite artist I came across some old star wars soundtrack and that reminded me to The Old Republic. I haven't played it myself yet but I heared some people say the music in the game is quite good, listening some on youtube now and for now I doesn't seem bad. Would something like that be called fantasy or is Sci-Fi no fantasy (Know there is a difference but they do have a lot in common also and technically Star Wars is in the past so its hard to say its Sci-Fi)? |

Yeah, this is the never ending discussion, "what is 'fantasy'?" I LOVE the music from Star Wars, but as I always think of light sabres and space ships I don't want that when roleplaying in (high) fantasy land Though many soundtracks like Alien and such have a more discreet feeling to it, and that could work for sure. But in our Fantasy Awards we must stick to the typical "high fantasy" feeling a little more strictly Friggin Lord Elrond! |

My nominations for 2011 are: 2011 Break-Out Artist Orkpack Although he makes music for some time. But he is so busy and still brings forth beautiful music ever again. Fun Fact. Star Wars was actually first marketed as a Fantasy because anyone who's seen REALLY old space-based shows like Buck Rogers or He-man and the like would find that they're almost exactly like medieval fantasy just with space ships and lazer guns. It wasn't until later that the space genre broke away and became what we see today. I always love looking at old villain costumes and evil lair locations and how they looked like wizards in 'techy' stone castles\fortresses. To know is wise, but to understand is a far worthier goal. |

Yeah, there are great many sci-fi movies where it takes place in a sort of medieval world, but with space ships and stuff. Kind of funny Friggin Lord Elrond! |

Posted by Daimonion That link appears to be broken. Know of any other place we can hear the music? Today is your last chance to make a nomination! grey is an IT guy living outside Atlanta. He like gentle rains, long walks, and smacking spammers with a ban hammer. |

Well then let me slip in one of my personal favorite artists: Nomination for 2011 Best Independent Fantasy Artist: Jenny Dolfen a.k.a. Gold_Seven: http://gold-seven.deviantart.com/ I love her work so much because they're the most beautiful watercolor illustrations. With all the near-photo realistic artwork that computers allow people to put out these days, her work really grabs my attention by staying more simple yet her skill is amazing! To know is wise, but to understand is a far worthier goal. |
