Does anyone still know the Kings Quest game series?

Back in the 90's I played King's Quest V: Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder! on my brand new 486 2x66 pc with 4 MB RAM memory . The game was so great that it required seven disks

It was a lot of fun to play it.

AGD Interactive has upgraded the first 3 parts of the series. The games now have better graphics and better gameplay, I think. You can download the games on their website. The games are even playable on windows 7 systems

I'm surprised AGD is still at this. I think they've been doing this for over 11 years now. They do a good job though.

Those games still give me nightmares. I disliked them because you could make ONE mistake but not find out until you were hours later into the game and have to start all over. KQV is the perfect example with the infamous moment where you have to throw the boot at the cat and you have one chance and it's a split second moment.

Sierra adventure games were hard, but they did have excellent storytelling. I really enjoyed the Space Quest series. But I'll be honest, I'm more of a Lucas Arts fan. I LOVE the Monkey Island games (MI3 is in my opinion the best adventure game ever), the Indiana Jones series, and of course, Grim Fandango.

To know is wise, but to understand is a far worthier goal.

I remember agd started out as Tierra entertainment.. then changed name to agd. I didn't really play kings quest that much. From sierra I loved the space quest series, especially the sixth, and the quest for glory series. I can say i am more a Lucas Arts fanboy myself. Just as Szczepan mentioned, monkey island happens to be my favourite adventure game series as well and I can say I had most fun playing the third instalment as well, the curse of monkey island that is. I am also really pleased with the new episodes from telltale games, tales of monkey island! I even bought the special edition. Grim fandago is also too good and now this thread reminded me also of Full Throttle from Lucas. Rock 'n' Roll baby!

You don't have much choice when trouble's riding your back so tight it makes the leather squeak. Sometimes you outsmart it, sometimes you outfight it, and sometimes you just have to outrun it...Full Throttle. Aw-yeah Qeiynn!

Oh joy! I remember playing ALL Sierra's games from Kings Quest, through Space and Police Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Hero Quest and all the others! Oh gosh, how many hours haven't I spent on these?!

And yay, Mac downloads!

oh yeah! I was happy Lucas arts re-released a 4-games adventure pack some years ago on cd's. That was the last time I replayed full throttled and it still was awesome being kick-ass. I love the line in the first dialogue:

-"Do you know what looks good with your nose?"

-"What?"

-"The bar!" ..or something like that.

I grew up on the King's Quest games -- loved them!

Did you guys know that the fan-made sequel The Silver Lining has been released, except for the final episode (which will hopefully be out soon, and maybe then they'll release a Mac version!) You can get it for free here. Great KQ community on the forums there as well!

They took a lot of liberties with the lore that don't sit well with a lot of the fans, but I figure.... it's fanon, not canon, so it doesn't matter too much. A lot of people took issues with AGDI's lore changes. *shrug* It's darker and goes deeper into the characters than the other KQs (sometimes too deep, admittedly) but I love it.

As much as I love King's Quest though, they'll never be better than Quest for Glory in my opinion.
