Radio Rivendell app! (iPhone)

We have our own app on the iPhone! Unfortunately it has stopped working due to IP-number changes. It's developed for Radio Rivendell by 4CM Network.

Shoutcast Radio (iPhone)

Shoutcast Radio on iPhoneListen to you beloved Radio Rivendell in your iPhone! Just download the Shoutcast Radio application and you have all you need. When you have it installed you can stream your favorite radio station (i.e Radio Rivendell) wherever you are.

  1. Just tap the Search button in the bottom right corner
  2. Enter "radio rivendell"
  3. Select the 64kbit stream (128kbit might be too much for your service)
  4. Tap the star in the upper right corner to make a favorite of the radio!
  5. Enjoy!

Remember that it this radio uses quite some bandwidth over time. So don't use it when you are abroad except when you are on a wi-fi network ;-)

Android

There are of course a couple of alternatives to tuning in on an Android phone. This is just one!

A Online Radio

The best way I've found to listen to Radio Rivendell on the Android is to use a free application called "A Online Radio". You can download it from any Android App store. You'll need the full URL to your preferred stream to use this. I recommend the 48 kpbs AAC stream, which is small enough for 3G networks, and full enough to sound decent over car speakers. Go to http://www.radiorivendell.com/page/listen/ and find the "Low bandwidth AAC+" file address. It will look something like "http://88.191.136.226:8005/listen.pls". Note that other streams may work for you, but this one works best for me.

To add Radio Rivendell as a pre-set station:

  1. Select the "Live" button at the bottom of the AOR.
  2. Scroll down and select "Add Channel".
  3. Type in or paste the URL you chose above (e.g. "http://88.191.136.226:8005/listen.pls").
  4. Hit the "Add" button.

To Play:

  1. Select the "Favourites" button at the bottom of AOR.
  2. Select Radio Rivendell from the list.
  3. Hit the Play button.

Nokia internet radio

Yes, Radio Rivendell is also listed in Nokia's directory of internet radio stations! This is how you listen to Radio Rivendell when you own a Nokia phone:

  1. Hit: Menu > Multimedia >Internet Radio
  2. Choose Access Point and choose Access Points (for WiFi) if you can over 3G/EDGE. The more speed you connection got the better. So if you are on a local wireless network choose WiFi. In other cases try to use 3G prior to EDGE, since EDGE isn't that fast and reliable for streaming.
  3. Enter the Search function and look for "Rivendell". There should only be one result. Press the Listen button and enjoy! Information about the current playing song should correctly be displayed too.
  4. You should also add it to your list of favourites so you don't have to search for it every time.

According to the settings (EDGE, 3G or WiFi) you will see different stations, it has to do with the speed limitations of the different stations. Per default EDGE shows streams shows 48Kbit streams and 3G and WiFi shows 48-128Kbit. But these settings can according to sources be changed manually. If you try to connect to our 128Kbit stream using EDGE you'll probably get choppy playback due to lack of bandwidth.
