Just curious, as I am evaluating MySql: http://www.mysql.com, FireBird: http://www.firebirdsql.org and NexusDB: http://www.nexusdb.com for some new site projects...(and of course, the jewels I steal from dragons must also be tracked in a database inventory ! ). Mysql support prices seem to double each year! -Swordan

Uhm, I actually have no idea on the version of MySQL. It was included in my webhotel It's most probably not the latest incarnation. I think MySQL is free for most uses. Some versions probably cost money.

the most stable for some software (outta there) compatibility, would be 3.1 or perhaps 4.x don't know because my expertise on MySql is limited... but with 3.x things seem work Ok.. also, recently happens to us, a problem with isolation tables or encoding tables that supress or changes rarely the information contained in that DB's (the special char's, accents etc)....a rare trouble some months ago... with Phpbb stuff...but was seem extended to more websites.... personally...i preffer something like Interbase / Firebird Server ... it seem more "suitable" to some DB procedures, that works properly in my tests (trying modify information with some users attempt to DB in multi-user access)....with Interbase, the Records handling, and transactional model, works (as far i can test) but with MySQL, i can't achieve same results....the fail is that the procedure for CommitUpdates() sometimes work, other may seem "lost" the information.... of course, would be i'm a total "fool" tricking with MySQL....and something escapes in Commit procedures....

I don't either Their documentation is more than enough for my use. I read in the newspaper that they are moving over to Nasdaq or something, worth around 1 billion dollars. Yikes.
