We're about to start with a newsletter, delivered directly to your mailbox. We have no real agenda finished here yet. We don't want to spend time and effort on things people just would ignore. So join in on the discussion on what YOU would like to read about? Would you like to read about interviews, reviews, artist profiles, new music, games, fun clips? Air you opinions!

First off... what should we call it? "Letters from Rivendell"? "Radio Rivendell Newsletter"? What are your thoughts and ideas?

First of all, i like the idea of a newsletter! Sounds pretty cool! I would love pretty musch everything you mentioned to be included. Artist profiles - music - interviews the first priority, as RR is mainly music-driven! Then, video games and tabletop games would be awesome! At least whenever there is something worth mentioning! As for the name i can't come up with something cool, but as soon as I have an idea i'll post.

I guess i would want to be notified ( if I wasn't lurking around all the time) for everything that makes it to the homepage (except donations).

Yes, we'll probably stick to our music and write things on games when it has something to do with our music. Perhaps if we get to play some spanking new music from games not released yet or such. So engage those brains for the naming!

Hmm in Harry Potter the newspaper was named "Daily prophet" , maybe something similar...

Radio Rivendell newsletters? Good idea, why not. All of us would be interested, i think. And "Letters from Rivendell" sounds good...

I also like the idea of newsletter containing news on music and the stuff you already mentioned. Maybe some articles about interesting things about fantasy music and/or generally fantasy would be great, maybe "our readers send us" portion? Can I vote for the "Letters from Rivendell" as well?

Maybe it could include a curated list of forum threads that may be of interest to readers of the newsletter, with the goal of driving the reader to the site and participating. Regarding name, I wonder if there is a way to incorporate modes of communication that exist in middle earth, such as the Great Eagles or perhaps the magic orbs such as the one used by Saruman (or are those just for "seeing" things)? Maybe not, as any letter would simply be delivered via this mode of communication, and could therefore be titled whatever the sender desires

Great ideas all! We'll be moving forward in this matter. The newsletter could also feature some ads, to sponsor our living. The Mailchimp account I plan to use feature up to 2000 recipients in the free version. I think this will suffice for a little while, but then we/I'll need to pay up. The idea of pushing for the website content is great. A good way to drive more traffic to our site. The majority of our visitors end up in the radio player directly, ignoring rest of the site

You could do some events, to populate the forums and chat from time to time. Like on the newsletter there could be an info about a new RPG game starting on forum and so on.

Great idea! Oh, and we can have guest writers and such too. We need more life here. We still have quite a few visitors, but not very many do anything

It's just crazy... only a few of the members care to log in when you can tell that the listeners are much more. Maybe with the newletter we could change that.

Yeah, hopefully this will give a spark that will make it lively yet again. I am planning to rebuild the webplayer in the next update. That way we'll "force" / incourage more people to be online and be part of the community.

I like the idea about Newsletter. What I want to see, is a beautiful templates. It is always great to have something nice looking in your mailbox.

About Newsletter content. Before creating Newsletter, there should be such a part as Blog or something on website, where all this articles and information will be written.

Mayor part should be about music and all around it. About background how it was created and some related music. As we have a lot music from games, it would be great to listen soundtracks from new and upcoming games.

For example, I really liked one of the videos about how was created music in Child of Light game. I would like to get more such news about different game in my mailbox.

There could be also more articles for tabletop role-players about background music for their game sessions.

It would be interesting to read about history of the game music, about popular and not so popular, but good music, from old games.

Of course, some updates about music made by our community members.

The emails could bring Great Eagles (sender name =)

A lot of information as we know people got from Palatiri or Stones of Seeing. Also great name for Newsletter. But it is more likely good for Men, but we need to think about what is more related to the elfs and Rivendell. I will gonna think more about it =)

^^^Some nice ideas from Hilly^^^ I suggest we make a thread about first newsletter - ideas, maybe some input and so on. Later we could make a whole forum category with a thread for every next newsletter and forum members actually helping make it. (sorry for my English, I'm tired x)

Great ideas Hilly and Etherlord! After we've created our first newsletter we need to continue to gather content and ideas.

Reading this thread more than eagerly interested, I first decided to vote for "Letters from Rivendell" as a possible name for our first and the hopefully following Newsletters...

Oooh, I like that name too! "Yay, the new issue of the Palantir just arrived in my mailbox!" It's got a nice ring to it And it almost sounds like a name for a newspaper
