US server shut down

US server shut down

I just shut down 72.233.48.190 from our list of servers. That server is located in the US and it's a precaution we take to not get caught by SoundExchange in the US. Now we don't have any servers operating in the USA anymore.

We thank the admin and kind bandwidth donor for helping Radio Rivendell spreading the fantasy music to the world over the years. Thank you!

We of course have a bunch of servers operating from other locations.

Oh crap. It's still online and playing, but from some other source than mine. But I have done what I can to prevent this. It's what Shoutcast stations are all about I guess - being little independent cells streaming off each other. I cannot prevent anyone setting this up and streaming from someone elses machine.

If your official servers are not US based, I guess they cant do a thing then. If someone is "restreaming" what you forecast is not your problem then... I hate this things happening, RR is not making any profit of anything, and I don't think people like John Williams or Howard Shore will be less millionaires because RR.
And young new composers are positively published so... Maybe you should get some lawyer's advice to prevent yourself a problem. And ourselves the loss of RR!!!

It is too bad you have had to
shutter things in the US. I use this station to legally purchase
new music (when I hear something good). Too bad the "All Seeing Eye" can't understand you help to sell their products! The greed gets in the way.

Consider getting permission and only stream the people who will give you permission. I'm not sure how you would set that up. I think its great that you can at least continue to broadcast from other sites. I think your site is wonderful.
