The Lonely Mountain Band

The Lonely Mountain Band is a musical project created by members of the Celtic Rock band "FATHOM". The creative venture is inspired by a love for Tolkien's works. As an acoustic and independent body of work in tribute to Tolkien's lore began to grow in John's songbook, Robert and John of Fathom decided to consolidate these new songs into a sub-creative entity of Fathom.
Both projects of Fathom & Lonely Mountain Band will continue simultaneously.
The catalyst for this new collection of songs was an idea sparked after the recording of "Let Us Sing Together" was completed. The song is a re-worked cover of a LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online) soundtrack song written by composer Chance Thomas. John is an avid fan of the MMO version of Lord of the Rings, and in fact has named this new project after his "Kinship", a gaming group on the Landroval server of the award winning game LOTRO.
