Arn de Gothia
Marcos Ciscar • 2004 • 12 songs
Arn of Gothia is the soundtrack from a Swedish documentary drama (TV-mini series), called Arn de Gothia, about the origin of the nation Sweden in the 13th century. The series are loosley based around a very successful book about the same thing by Sweden's perhaps most well-known author, Jan Guillou.
Anyway, the score is composed by a Swedish composer/artist called Marcos Ciscar. The style of the score can perhaps be described as pop/medieval. The score is based upon Swedish folk music, gregorian chant, and classic orchestral accompaniment. The orchestral backing is electronic, but the instrumental solos - mainly fiddles, tin whistle and flutes, and ethnic vocals - and the chorus - are all acoustic. There are themes in abundance - one going through the whole score, which is of a particular noble character, performed by low male choir.
