Elana looked over her shoulder at Lorder, then to Elam. "I feel we may have a long battle ahead of us. If they have few soldiers there, we cannot leave them to face the coming storm alone."

Elana nodded. "Aye, there is one - Ildonir. In fact, it is good luck indeed that brings us this way. The king of that kingdom fostered me for a while when my mother was killed. I proved myself time and time again for him in battle, and I am the Lieutenant of the Ildonir armies. I left them many years ago as I preffered to hunt alone, but the memory of the Elves is long, and we will find a welcome there."

((OOC - sorry for such a long post, but I've had a vision of this city in my head for so long, and wanted to use it somewhere.)) Elana nodded, then turned and led Lorder on a different route. After a while of running, she slowed and held up a hand to Lorder. "Here we must slow. The kingdom of Ildonir is ahead, but the borders are well guarded. Nigh on every tree has at least one Elf in it, with orders to shoot to kill anyone and anything that comes near without prior warning. Stay close, and do not stray from the path." She moved forward slowly, her eyes going from tree to tree. Suddenly, an Elf dropped down from the branches of the trees above them. A bow was slung over his shoulder with a quiver of arrows at his side, the fletching the same as the arrows Elana carried. He looked at Elana, and inclined his head. "It is good to see you again, Lieutenant." "Taylan. It is also good to see you. But we have need to speak with the king. Will you let us pass?" "Aye. The king has been expecting you, Lady Elana, since we saw you in our lands. You remember the way, I trust? Ildonir still retains its old magic." Elana smiled. "Ever the Hidden Kingdom. Aye, I remember the way." She turned and smiled at Lorder. "And you will see a sight that you may never see again, my friend. Come, it is not far now." She led Lorder down an avenue of trees, and though she could not see them, she sensed the Elves hidden in the trees watching them. Soon they came to a wide open space, and Elana stopped. "Ildonir." She turned to Lorder, smiling, then stopped. "Ah, forgive me. I forget - those who have not recived the blessing of the Ildonir elves cannot see its splendour. Trust me..." She raised up her hand and laid it across Lorder's eyes. When she took it away, a great tree had appeared in the centre of the clearing. In its massive branches were platforms, connected by a series of walkways. In the centre of the tree, right near the top, was a large building, seemingly constructed from the tree itself, around the main trunk. On the lower, outer branches were covered flets used by the sentries, and above them homes had been built around the thick branches that spread out at regular intervals around the tree. Elves walked along the walkways carrying lanterns and lights burned in windows, giving the whole city an ethereal look. "I hope you aren't afraid of heights!" She grinned at Lorder, before setting out for the only way into the citadel. Walking under one of the sentries flets, a voice called out to her in greeting, then a rope ladder was lowered down for her and Lorder to climb, and it was raised up after them. "Ildonir - probably the best defended citadel in the known world. If an army got past the guards, then they'd have to find it. If they get past the guards and find it, then they have to find a way in. It's impossible." "Lady Elana, the king is in council tonight. He has ordered accommodation for you and your friend, but he regrets he cannot see you until tomorrow. The fourth house on the second level has been put aside for you." "Ah, very well. Come, then Lorder. At least we shall sleep in beds tonight." Elana led the way from the sentry's flet up the winding walkways to the second level. "Don't look down," she grinned, then opened the door of the house that had been put aside for her and Lorder. As was common with the houses in Ildonir, it was irregularly shaped, following the curve of the thick branch it was built around. The door opened onto a single large room, and the giant branch of the tree curved up through a fenced opening in the centre. Two rooms lay off to one side, each of which had a soft bed in, freshly made up, and a platter of food waiting for them.

Oteran had gon scouting around seeing if anyone was near by. Elams furry freind on his sholder had grown bigger. Elam no longer had him on his sholder or in his bag but now the pup was nearly half his sicse( Tipo i know). The wolf whent looking for food to eat while Elam stood there. His memorys from the past came flying to him. The death of his parents, his home and the village and the people there. He Grabed his sword and took it from his scabbard and trew it in a house near him. "Lad, I sens yer trubled." He heard behind him. he called for his sword witch came flying back and turnd around, not believing what he saw.

Elana and Lorder had a wonderful night, they ate there food with pleasure and there was laughter, it was almost like they were childhood friends. Now they are sound asleep in there beds. But Lorder cant sleep. He stands up, walks out and looks into Elana´s room, she´s sound asleep. He walks to one of the windows facing away from the city and looks through. In his mind he say´s" I hope that Elana connection to king Ildonir is great cause we´ll need all the help we can get if to we can defeat that dark knight!" Lorder stand´s there all night in till he lies down on the floor and falls a asleep.

The next day, Elana woke, and stretched. When she had been sleeping, somone had come in with fresh platters of food. She fell upon it hungrily, washing it down with the clear, sweet liquid that had been put aside in a silver-chased jug for her. Dressing swiftly, she walked out into the main room, to see Lorder by the great branch of the tree. Sensing something as troubling him, she looked at him with concern, but said nothing. Instead, she slung her cloak around her shoulders and smiled at him. "Come on, then." Walking out the door, she breathed in deeply. The smell of the bark and leaves of the tree filled her nostrils and gave her strength. The wooden walkway she was walking along passed across a clearing in the leaves, and suddenly the full light of the sun was on her skin, warming her. The wooden planks creaked below her, the walkway waving in the wind slightly, the rope bridge groaning ever so slightly. The whole tree was full of these noises as the walkways stretched here and there through the branches. They soon passed back into the darkness under the leaves, but it was a cool gloom, a pleasing feeling against her skin. Leading Lorder through the maze of pathways, the houses around them began to thin. There became fewer walkways and they passed fewer Elves, until suddenly the palace of the king reared above them. Even Elana, who remembered the palace well, had to draw breath at its beauty. Made from silver branches, the entire palace reared up out of the canopy of the tree. Hung with silver lanterns, it gleamed like a silver jewel in the crown of the tree. The branches formed giant arches through which light streamed, illuminating the gloom beneath the leaves. The palace was three storeys tall, the highest building in Ildonir. Leading the way in, Elana walked into the main hall. The main trunk of the tree, as with all the houses in Ildonir, rose up through the centre of the room, but unlike in the rest of the houses, this trunk had been utilised. Carved into the trunk itself was the throne, and on it sat the king of Ildonir. The king would have looked young to mortal eyes, but Elana knew him to be ancient, more so even than herself. "Melada." she smiled at him. "Elana." He stood, and opened his arms, smiling at her. She took a few steps towards him, into his arms, and they embraced each other tightly. "I trust your rooms were adaquate?" "More than adequate, ada." She replied, smiling, untangling herself from his arms. "But I have been rude. Melada, may I present Lorder. Lorder, this is my melada and king of Ilondir, King Tharion. We come to you in great need, ada." "I know. You must tell me all, Meliel, and you also, Lorder." ((OOC: 'Melada' - foster father. 'Meliel' - foster daughter))

"Ney brother, you still are the same idiot you where when we where children." she said smiling. The pup came with a bird in its mouth. "Good boy." Elam said, not looking of his sister. "Eve, I saw you die, twelve years ago. how?" he said. She smiled at him and said. "Can i hug my brother and speak about other than what happend twelve years ago brother." He looks at her. " Aye, then." he puts his sword in the scabbard on his back and sits down with his sister.

((Ach, I had a really long post then the internet crashed and I lost it.....oh well, try again. Elam, it seems Lorder and Elana are on a different time from tou you guys. You might want to slow down a little to let us catch up.)) Tharion smiled at Lorder, then rose and let the two into a room leading off from the side chamber. Three comfy chairs lay next to a roaring fire, and a table bore a platter of food, a jug of wine, and three goblets. Tharion poured the wine into the goblets and gestured to the chairs. "Be seated, and begin your tale." Elana let Lorder speak first, and she listened as intently as Tharion as he described the Dark Knight. She took over the tale from Lorder as she described how she had joined the company. Tharion listened intently as they spoke, and as the sun grew low in the west, Elana finished the tale. "And so that is how we came to be here. We cannot let the Menfolk stand alone against this being." Tharion nodded, his brow furrowed in thought. "The Dark Knight. Elana, did you ever wonder why you were fostered here?" Elana blinked, confused at the sudden change of subject. "Well, I...I assumed that as my mother was a princess to one of the kingdoms, and my father long dead from his mortal age, that it was...well, political reasons." Tharion let out a short laugh. "Political? Hardly. Your father was not mortal, Elana. Loriel, your mother, was my wife. You are of the royal blood of Ildonir, and if you were killed then the line of Ildonir would fail, and the Hidden Kingdom would be destroyed. So your mother took you away, and hid your identity - and what better way than to say you were born of a mortal man, long since dead? But when your mother was killed, we had you brought back here. But still, we retained the pretence of your mortal lineage to keep you protected. Elana - I am not your foster-father. I am your father. This is the reason I made you lieutenant of my armies. You do not need to ask. Take as many soldiers as you need, iel. But I must ask you one thing." Elana nodded, dumbfounded. "Do not hate me for the deception, for it was needed for your saftey. I do not wish to lose your love, my daughter." Elana rose and crossed over into his waitng arms. "Gerich meleth nîn, ada. You have always been as a father to me, and now I find that is what you truly are...I will make you proud." Tharion smiled down at his daughter, then released her from his embrace. "Go now, then, and sleep. For tomorrow you ride out at the head of our army, iel nîn. And with the knowledge of your true lineage, Ildonir's blessings lie on you. Become swifter than the eagle, stealthier than the fox." Elana smiled at her father, and turned, walking deep in thought with Lorder by her side. ((See why I had to have control over Tharion, Lorder? iel - daughter. iel nîn - my daughter. Gerich meleth nîn, ada - you have my love, father. ))
