Amelia Silverfeather observes the road leading north into the arboreal realms of Insumun, is the third day since she departed from the tavern "The Monkey on the branch" and has not yet encountered any traveler, which is a relief as she prefer solitude to walk with someone who does not appreciate the silence.
The cobbled path is flanked by enormous trees typical of this region which darken the road and without a signpost she must rely on her calculations, if she is correct have less than one day away from the GreenRock fortress.
She tie her wild silver hair in a ponytail, revealing a huge scar on a side of her neck, the weak sun's heat relieve the extra sensitivity that produces the old wound, soon the winter will come and the discomfort will get worse, but now it's time to keep walking, soon the night will fall and has not yet seen a place of her choice for camping.
With the last rays of sunlight she see a wagon, a few days ago it passed without stopping by, she remember, in it a human family, farmers for sure, accompanied by an old elf, rather venerable, but something is not right, that was three days ago and now the wagon is in the middle of the road with no one in sight.
With a natural gesture learned from hundreds of fights opens his red cape and load his crossbow, while keeping one hand on her belt with the components of her spells.
A light breeze brings a foul smell, unfortunately known ... death

At that right moment Shadow flies to her point and rests to her shoulder. He has been searching to grab a bite but seems he found nothing.
With a steady voice she commands "Go forth and scout. You know the dril, friend."
As she started to move towards the wagon as quiet and hiden as possible Shadow flew off her shoulder. Of course he knew the drill, he has done it many times. He will fly over to the wagon make some circles and spectate. If anything is moving he will fly directly over it for a few seconds. Amelia would know that way where to look first.

Ever faithfull Shadow hung in the air, the hover of his being seeming to defy all known laws of gravity. Suddenly he was gone,he had swooped and the sight of his catch as he rose from that one decending dive gave Amelia full knowledge.....there were demons in this place, on this road. These writhing beings of death had captured and silently bitten deep into the flesh of those about the wagon. Shadow now had risen into the ever more darkening sky. It was his duty to make his mistress Amelia aware of the danger lest she tread to close too the wagon. With ever tightening jaws, Shadow bite deep, the Snake-like body of the serpent demon now in two parts, falling from the darkened sky, no more a danger. "Praise unto my faithfull Shadow" intoned Amelia. Shadow now perched upon the top of the wagon....Amelia approched, Shadow was quietened. Was the demon danger curtailed?

The sorceress cautiously approaches the wagon, on the left side of the road there are several corpses stacked with soft reprimand Shadow refrains from pounce on the corpses.
Among the bodies there are a human couple and two children, their heads have been cut off and their limbs are at impossible angles, you can not determine whether those injuries were made while living or after death, Amelia looks away with sorrow because of what the children suffered.
The wagon seems to have been sacked, on the opposite side find the elf's corpse, apparently tried to reach the tree line but was hit by a black arrow, as used by orcs. The body also has bent limbs and missing his head.
Shadow is tense, has seen something in the woods Amelia look carefully while the last ray of sunlight is reflected in a small object on the floor at a dozen meters among the giant trees.

As if the dead could listen, with a calm and very quiet tone
-Let's leave the dead at peace Shadow. Let's see what is worrying you over there-
She says as she moves towards the reflection. There is a strange feeling in her gut, Orks kill but do they have habbits such these? Almost like a ceremony the heads are missing and the limbs are bent.
As she is approaching the reflection makes a gesture with her hand and mumbles well known words. @Detect Magic@

Under the leafs there is a light blue tear-shaped pendant studded with silver threads the work is exceptional, perhaps made by dwarves or elves, but without enough light is impossible to get more details
The night starts and still have to find a place to camp, far from here, the smell will bring scavengers and not a good idea to be close when they arrive

Shadow find a dry and comfortable hole in one of the huge trees, about three meters above the ground and about 3 square meters is broader than many of the rooms taverns where the sorceress has stayed in the past, and the best of all is not has been used for more than some small birds.
She improvise a small magical fire to provide some warmth and both sleep soundly until about midnight when they hear strange noises outside the tree, hiding the light Amelia looks carefully and sees several pairs of red eyes in the forest floor with a sound like sniffing around the tree, again and again, to disappear after a while.

The unsettling site didn't let her get much sleep for the rest of the night and with the first rays of sunlight Amelia and Shadow started their way to the Green Rock Fortress. It shouldn't be far now.
With the bright light of day it wasn't difficult any more for the sorceress to examine a bit more of her finding, too. She could see the pendant's details clearly now.

Getting off the tree can appreciate the trail of marauding animals from last night, probably wolves.
From one of the curves of the road can be seen as an island in a sea of trees a crag crowned by a light green fortress, Amelia has arrived at GreenRock.
The pendant is a light blue teardrop set in a web of silver thread, at first glance can be centuries old and the passage of time has taken its toll on the piece but in the thickest of the threads are engraved the elven letters "LX"

"Finally we made it Shadow" as if the site gave her more strength she started walking vividly towards Green Rock.
After some time they were both outside the fortress. "Let's see if we can find someone with authority, here"

The twisting road continues north towards the border kingdoms while the fortress protrudes the mountain eastward, its walls of granite about five meters tall and entirely covered with vines, hence its name GreenRock, the road ends at a huge door carved of dark wood, similar to the giant trees of the region.
Amelia enters through the gate to see that the road cobbled proudly becomes a mudhole, the stone and wood houses surrounding the avenue have also seen better days and the missing pavers were used to perform repairs on the houses, and from time to time the sewage from the houses are poured into the streets mingling with the mud creating an overwhelming pestilence.
The people look with suspicion and contempt to the sorceress as she tries not to get too much dirty with the putrid mud until she reach the central square of the fortress, a statue of strange proportions indicates its center, to the east are some houses and some shops , including a tavern, a jewelry store and a bakery / butcher ... something never seen in the countless trips of Amelia, without hesitation takes mental note never eat bread in this town, who knows if they mix it with any part of an animal or worse... with blood, at the thought disappears any feeling of hunger.
To the North is the Tower of the Guard with a couple of soldiers leaning against the lintel, their uniforms, too much worn, consist in half capes hanging on the left shoulders and leather armor, from the belt hangs a broadsword and with brown leather pants, filled with gobs of dry mud, their faces hidden in large helmets, gives the impression that they were sleeping.

Amelia walks towards them Steady as she approaches with Shadow on her left shoulder tries to bring out some charm. Charm always helps, opens doors or even hearts. For now the door to the office of this seedy bunch's captain would do...
With a gentle tone to her voice and a little smile. "Good day soldiers. May I speak with someone having some authority in the Fortress?"

One of the guards startle not having seen Amelia approaching, maybe was asleep after all, "second floor to the right", says reluctantly while watching the sorceress from the inside of his helmet.
The Tower on the inside is less dirty than the rest of the town, though whoever clean only does so where people passes, in the corners quite a dirty accumulates. In the circular room there is a staircase that climbs and two doors one with a big and heavy 30 x 30 cms lock, and the other looks quite battered, next to the staircase there is a desk full of papers.
From the battered door comes another guard thin and dirty and without helmet or sword and sits behind the desk as he watches Amelia with a lascivious look.

She walks in front of the desk trying to ignore his look. This kind of attitude reminds her of her hometown, her much hated hometown.
Amelia looks at him...
"Good day. May I speak with the captain? Second floor to the right they told be but I guess I should notify you too." and smiles.

"Never visited this city, right?" and among a pile of papers rescues a leather-bound book with golden letters, seeks a blank page and place it on another pile of papers, in a precarious balance.
"Note your data and all your belongings" emphasizing the word all.
Seeing the look of Amelia to find a quill to write with, the soldier dips in ink one that takes from the entropic mass of paper and hands it to the girl with a huff.

"Yes it's my first time here."...
She picks up the quill and starts writing while thinking that there may be sewers missing but ,no, bureaucracy is still here....
"Amelia Silverfeather belongings : dagger crossbow and bolts, backpack, candle, lantern, bedroll, flint and steel, spyglass, pouch, and pendant"
"That's it" she says "The raven has no pockets I guarantee it" she says with a smile.
"Now I should go." and starts moving towards the staircase. "Second floor to the right..."

The second floor is a bit less dirty than the lower level and has a single wooden door with a sign "captain of the guard" an iron gate blocks the stairs to the upper floor.
Near the door is a soldier sitting on a chair with the sword lying on the stone wall
"Weapons are not allowed, neither the raven, must leave them at the entrance of the tower"
The enchantress goes down to the entry and return to alter the sleeping guard.
"That's not here, you must submit all of your weapons in the registration office",seeing her face of doubt he points to the entry desk, "there, the registration office"
Again receiving the lascivious gaze of the soldier behind the desk the girl leave her weapons, but ordered Shadow to wait outside of the Tower, who knows where they put the poor raven, on the other side of the square, a dwarf laughs at her so hard that he slaps his chest to breathe.
Ignoring the dwarf she go up the stairs with more mud than patience, knocks on the door and after receiving no response she open it with curiosity, inside a room cleaner than the rest of the tower with rugs decorating the walls and a huge solid wood desk in the center, behind, a chair holding a huge chubby captain of the guard; you can almost hear the complaints of the seams of his uniform, at least one size smaller.
"Good Morning"
