It's time for people in the community to step forward with some some creative ideas for the 2013 Awards badges we will be handing out once we make our picks. This is a bit of art that the winners can stick on their websites to proudly proclaim their victory. It's also a bit of advertising for us! Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

So. Any ideas?

Not only this, but also keep in mind it will be scaled down! When I made previous year badge, I weren't too happy about the badge size (it was too big).
To help you on the design, I think we should list what should or could be on the badge.
1. "Radio Rivendell" logo. It's a must.
2. Something that states it is an award. The receiver of the award should be willing to put it as something he (she) can boast about. Just a fancy icon is not enough, the badge should be praising it's receiver as much as possible.
- I put "1st" and I think it's far too weak
- "award", "best", "winner" are some words to think about, like in "The best singer award winner" sentence.
3. The year (2013) - IMHO it's not needed if the badge will change from year to year.
4. Category - again, not needed as the receiver knows what category he (she) falls in. So does his (her) audience.
What do you think?

I'm mostly on board with your requirements. Except I think the year is *always* necessary because the viewer will probably not be aware that the icon changes every year. And I'm not even sure that it will. Depends upon how much progress we make here.
Also, rather than words, I'd prefer symbology to denote "winner". A gold star, a mountain peak, something like that. Words will work, too, but we already have to sue a LOT of them for the category.

So something like three towers. An Orthanc, a Cirith Ungol, a Barad-dûr ..... ?

Keep in mind this badge is not for RR, it's for artists that may have nothing in common with Middle-earth.
A crown, a star, gold trumpets, a dais, a cup etc. or something visualizing the text (e.g. "2013 fantasy voice diamond" and a diamond in background)
Of course some accent of Middle-earth would be nice, but not a symbol recognizable only for LOTR fans.

I hope you don't give up! I unfortunately can't make a new badge, I would probably need a week to come up with something, and nowadays I don't even have a single day for my hobbies (one of which is contributing to RR).
I can change the year on the old badge, but as I said, it's not perfect.

I was thinking that a visitor wouldn't care for the year. I mean, I go to Priscilla's site, see a badge: "Best singer of the year" and I don't really care what year it is - it's not that it's easier to win in some years and harder in others - I won't think "Ha! She probably won in 2009, it was pretty easy back then!".
The winner could put info on his site for what year it is, or he could put a tool-tip with extended description. Or we would give winners HTML codes with tool-tips already prepared. Alternatively, the year could be there as a very small text, out of main, important elements of the badge.
