Have you ever played in a campaign that was totally for fun? No big quests or elaborate backgrounds. Just crazy characters and the mood to fool around... I have always wanted to play in one and I have tones of ideas. How about you?

Save the world sometimes is not enough ... Seriously, especially if you tend to play very often and with the same group of people

I am sure..

I mean making characters that you wouldn't consider "right"...

Example: A half ork rogue with a fullplate or a bard that is so much out of tune that nobody stands him.....

A Drow as a Druid of a forest? hmmm as a Cleric of the Sun? A Kosher Vampire? An Elf with hypertrichosis?

I once played a wizard with a ridiculous amount of over-powered spells. The downside? He was a terrible wizard. I couldn't choose what to cast, I had to roll dice each time. I was allowed however to modify how the spell reacted based on how funny I could make it. We got into the most awkward situations because of my wizard. Was some of the most fun I've ever had.
To know is wise, but to understand is a far worthier goal.

I've always wanted to play a hyper-active halfling rogue that can't resist thinks that sparkle even if that think is a well polished pair of boots....

I once played one of a trio: Nimbletoes, Nimbletongue, and Nimblefingers. I was 'Toes, and she had a really, really good case of ADOS (Attention Deficit OOOOH SHINY!). Never stood still, never walked when she could run. 'Tongue and 'Fingers were in constant despair of keeping her on track and from rushing into everything. Lots of fun!

Reminds me the Kenders of the D&D setting Dragonlance and its novels https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kender

Not just love sparkle things but they do not feel fear, that, and incredible curiosity is a constant fun...

In our party were a guy who was the only person i see to play very nice this race, though sometimes leading us to the lair of a Lich, just to ask any nonsense.

If you havent read the Dragonlance novels, I really recommend them

I once played a "freak" in a circus who looked just like Sloth in Goonies!

He was kind but too strong for his own good. His pet rabbit always died and his friends had to keep "backups" as he would be horribly sad if he lost it. It was a very fun character to play, he even survived the whole campaign

Friggin Lord Elrond!

@Ardac: That's right Kenders!!!! Hahahaha.... Haven't played them but I ve heard a lot of stories..... @Elrond: Now that's what I'm talking about! Have you ever noticed, the more cool and perfect the character the more likely for him to die before the end of the campaign???

But it has to be really good, because it may bore others, I remember once a player was conducting a character of that style, but it bothered us, so we used to detect traps... the Minotaur of the group threw it against walls, doors, etc...

That way was more fun, now that I think about it, the guy never returned to our sessions...

I once played a druid who was maybe a bit nuts. His first reaction to most things was usually smell and lick them (if it was possible). I loved playing him because I could do all kind of stupid things (like shake hands with fire elemental....) and it was complitely in character.

A friend of mine plays a druid that was raised by bears.... in the first sessions he didn't speak at all, now he is in the state of "Me Tarzan you Jane" linguistic level... The funny part in the hole story is that whenever another player wants to speak with him they end up talking like him. (e.gPlayer: "I go top tree you stay tree good...." , Gm: "you are doing it again, you talk like him"
