3.75 D&Amp;D Edition (Pathfinder)

After the various complaints about the 4th edition and how it has nothing to do with 3.5. we are going back a bit to 3.75 new edition named Pathfinder!

By my humble opinion it's exactly how tha 4th should be... takes 3.5 edition and takes it to the next level with many ways (new features-talents for some classes, new classes, new spells, new combat maneuvers etc.)

http://paizo.com/pathfinder/pathfinderRPG

Now on the other hand I do not have any information on how Wizards left someone else to do another edition of D&D. It could be that Paizo is a "child" of Wizards, but frankly I don't care...

Has anyone give it a try?

P.S. Funfact: I don't know if they did it on purpose but "paizo" or "παίζω" in Greek means "to play"...

It's not so much that WotC "left" someone else to do it. Paizo was working under the open licence WotC offered for 3e material, and when WotC stopped working on 3e to concentrate on 4e, Paizo didn't stop. I visit Colorado once a year (wish it was more often!) to play D&D with some friends there, and they've switched from 4e to Pathfinder, so I'll be playing that for the first time. It's not very different from 3.0 or 3.5, but I'll be interested to see what Paizo did with it. I wouldn't be surprised if Paizo chose the name quite deliberately.

My friends and I still play 3.5 over Google +. We will have to try pathfinder sometime.

You are so lucky!! I will be waiting for your comment once you play!

That's my thought aswell. After so many years of 3.5 it's time for some change. And I also think it's very easy to switch from one edition to another. We shall see!

I have tested pathfinder or 3.75 edition (whatever you like). I have been playing for 6 months now, once a week in a fantasy setting created by the DM ( the best setting I have played in by the way). It is really easy to switch from 3.5 to pathfinder and in my opinion it is far better. I will give you some reasons: -The multiclassing is so much easier -The skills are more free for everybody. E.g. It is possible to create a fighter good in diplomacy. The class skills only give a boost of 3 points and there is no extra cost for cross class -The variant classes ( in the Advanced Core rulebook and some others) give you the opportunity to create exactly what you like! No need to search in a ton of books for prestige classes with lvl and feat requirements! The variant class replaces some capabilities of the standard version of the class and gives you what you like. You still can choose your feats. Even a beginner player can create the hero he dreams off! -The CMD and CMB system makes a grapple, a trip and every manauver EASY for the dm. It's just a special attack roll ( CM against the target's special AC ( CMD) . It's easy and right ! - The variant AC and HP system . It's far more realistic, nice and easy. http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/variant-rules I really recommend pathfinder or 3.75!!!

We were playing 3.5 ed like forever,i want to try out pathfinder but my friends are skeptical. we all got burned with 4th ed. Honestly i am building my own game based on d20 system,Cyber punk setting, i have wiped out many races and classes from standard settings. If anyone is interested to help me create this wast world i will give them countries and resources to shape them as they see it fit,but based on my rules.

So far what I have read is very interesting I must say. My friends and I agreed to give it a try once we settle a few things first. We are all very excited!!

Cyber Punk!?!?! Oh very interesting, too bad I don't have much time to help....

A month ago I had a dream and it looked like a steampunk setting, there was also a bit of a plot... I have kept notes and I might give it a try in the future.

I love what they did in Pathfinder! They actually have clarified many of the rules some of us were confused with in 3.0 and 3.5. I'm surprised no one linked the Pathfinder srd. It's a great FREE resource that stays up to date with all the rules. Want to look up a feat, but don't have the book? Find it here! Want to try playing a non-core race? They have those too! You can pretty much use the site exclusively without using the books! Of course, I still want them, there's something about flipping through physical pages. Anyways, sharing the link! I played it a bit last November. Not a whole lot different from D&D 3.5 except that they've added a bunch of classes. There are probably some other rule changes that I didn't encounter, but on the whole it feels like 3.5.

I guess the biggest difference is the new classes..... The Oracle seems so interesting.

I tried out the Magus as a PF version of a character I started in AD&D 1st Ed. Some interesting features there.

I've read the handbook and it's very close to 3.5. It's also better in a lot of ways. Because Pathfinder is based upon open source rules, there is a very healthy support system of 3rd party tools available. And the default world they've build has a lot in common with Faerun - they've built up a fairly healthy mythology supported by numerous commissioned novels and short stories. I don't play any more, though. I just peruse the materials and reminisce.

The Initiate Release is joyfull, though his absence has been of some multiple turns of the clock he returns but by the longest of highways to find the word of Level 19 – 1st Lieutenant Ioanna. She is most mindfull and truly kind in both heart and soul to accept an Initiate being such as Release and yay, to bid him enter and to seek the Rivendellian RP way. Can this really be the way and the truth and the light?

The Initiate knoweth not where this RP doth take place? He will go forth and seek, vouched safe in the knowledge that a Level 19 do indeed look down upon him and will guide his future erroneous treads.....

The Initiate Being....Release.

I haven't played Pathfinder yet, but it looks very promising! I quite like the fact that you can buy .PDF versions instead of hardcovers. Release the Initiate, you are welcome to join us in the Roleplaying section: http://www.radiorivendell.com/forum/12/ I think that our game is the only one on these days (Shadows from the Mountain). There is another topic for out of characters discussions, where you may want to ask questions if you have any: http://www.radiorivendell.com/forum/13/3865/
