Haha well after you pointed out that you cannot find my newest music, I went to see it organized by date, and realized I had not posted any fantasy music (like that track) in a LONG TIME. I am still writing music like that, unfortunately I just can't share any of it yet, silly NDAs haha So I had some down time yesterday (when our son was sleeping) so I say down, and wrote the piece. It felt good, I need to do that more often haha. What is your e-mails? I can just blast you the piece.

As we enter the "-ber" months, let's all keep an ear out for the best of 2010. It would be sweet to turn around, after the extended 2009 process, and drop 2010 awards February!

Here're a few more to consider for the master-list. Independent Composers: ? Cristiano Filippini ? Peter Lukacs ? Gianmarco Leone ? Kai and Stefan Hartwig ? Martin Emes ? Dominik aka. Luchs ... The actual category is "2010 Best Song by Independent Composer". I'm not familiar with these guys (except maybe the Hartwigs). Which specific songs were you thinking of nominating?

I usually swing by their web sites at the end of the year and listen to everything they've published that year. If something stands out, I nominate it then. But I just like to keep a list for myself of places to visit, people to see.

Just added a couple of my favorite images from those submitted by our members to the summary page. Let me know if there if there others that our worthy. I recognize that others might prefer different representative samples from even these same two artists so let's hash that out, here. I also added one of Sean's pieces to the Indi Song list to get that one started. It's from 9 months ago so it squeaks in under the wire for 2010. Because the indi stuff is going to be a lot less known, I think were going to need links to the music, or at least to a place to download something like a zip file, so that voters can hear it. If you are an indi composer who wants us to consider some of your stuff from 2010, please make sure we can reach it.

I'll nominate Jan Morgenstern's great soundtrack "Sintel" to best indie. http://www.sintel.org/ I'll also nominate "I Move On (Sintel's Song)" as best (indie) song. That one is pure magic!

Any links yet to the soundtrack? Not sure how to point a voter to the specific track in question. Maybe you know the time mark for where it starts in the video? BTW, there's not "Best Indie" category (right now). There's indie song (for "I Move On". Were you thinking "Best Fantasy Film or TV Soundtrack"?

The main list has been updated. We've had a bunch of film soundtracks submitted so far. Kinda surprised at the dearth of game soundtracks, though. Don't really see anything missing. Maybe next year year, with GW2, Witcher2, & the latest Warcraft, we'll see that category rebound. A little over two months left. Don't stop submitting now! I'd like to see us posting the final list of candidates in january, with voting over in February.

I second that to the voting, I should get it going MUCH quicker next time. Hopefully it will be possible as I have made most automations during this year

Just added Pontus Rufelt's "Theme from Gothenburg Aero Show 2010" to the list. I'd like to get a little clarity on the "2010 Best Fantasy Artist" category. Is that for indies only? If not, I could flood the list with some eye popping artwork from game concept artists. If it is, is it for "Friends of Rivendell" only? If not, there is some stuff on DeviantArt that deserves a mention. As it is, we're a little thin in our nominations for this category.

It used to be indies only, but perhaps we should change it? It's such a small category (no real interest as of yet?) so we could perhaps go for the big guys and girls as well? Or do something else, like we select one artist and do "honorary mention" or something? It's hard to pick and choose from so many

I had always envisioned "Best Fantasy Album" as the best of the best, related to fantasy in some way, but not a soundtrack for a particular movie or game. I think of them as a triad of equals: Best Movie/TV soundtrack, Best Game Soundtrack, Best Fantasy Album. I don't think it should matter whether the nominees are independent or studio-signed.

I don't think it should be limited to friends of RR, but neither should the category be dominated by the Jeremy Soules & Howard Shores of the industry. How to define that?
