Thanks for the link, Ioanna. Will print some pages for my son. He likes to paint and coloring. I hope he will become a new Picasso

I agree with the above saying that there is no age as plastic and rich as childhood, and taste will develop as soon as the kid is exposed to different things. My dad used to listen to OST of his taste, as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, or James Bond's music, performed by the London Orchestra. I remember very well, when kid, everytime he came back from one of his travels, waiting to listen to the new music he brought. I also borrowed the tapes from him when on my own to listen while playing. I think that was a massive influence in my musical taste. Even, if I passed through the "Hannah Montana of my days" stage, is more like a matter of identification with the age group, more than a pure musical appreciation. I wouldn't worry much about it.

Thanks for the encouraging words.. I stopped worrying for some time now, I realised that all I have to do is show him the way to fantasy world. The rest is up to him no matter how hard I try.

This would be a great album to start with. It should really fire a young imagination. David Bowie Narrates Peter And The Wolf

I would have loved this as a kid! Me and my older brother and nerdy friends always went to the woods to "fight demons" with home made swords and bows and other stuff. That forest is still called "The Demon Forest" by my parents The demons where dead trees that easily crumbled when you hit them with your "sword" We even went for made up quests to find treasures. I remember one time when we went over hills and crossed over frozen ponds in the middle of the cold winter to get our treasure. Which ended up being some broken china we found under a rock. Aaah, the memories!

Haha, some nice memories indeed. Now that you mention it when we visited my grandparents village we used to go for "adventures" up in the mountain. The boys would pretend they had fights with swords and whenever someone would have "injured" I would mush "herbs" for his "injuries" and he would get better instantly.... I just realised I was the healer(!).... Aaah. good old times....

Haha, sounds really fun! I remember us getting immortal because we ate some rotten tree, ehrmm, I mean magical animal we slaughtered Oh, getting off topic, sorry My real interest in fantasy music though came much much later on. We started playing D&D when I was eight and we have kept at it more or less since then The music came in my adult time actually. Rivendell sort of made it grow much quicker

Same thing here... After playing D&D it's only natural to jump to Fantasy music after some time. The only difference is that I started playing D&D when I was about 18( slight difference in age I believe).... Now, about kids, I think it's obvious that they are into roleplaying.... The interesting part is that they are already into fantasy, they fight dragons and they play knights. A world of magic and schivarly is much more appealing than this world...

I've got news about my god-son!! We spent Christmass day together! He enjoyed his gifts and colored knights and dragons which he seem to like too much.... I offered the choice of watching Shrek but to my surprise he had already watched all of the movies.... I think the best moment of the day was when he sat next to my brother and tried to understand how Civilization (yes the game) was played.

...I've been playing Civ for years (All the way back to the DOS version of Civ I) and I STILL don't fully understand how to play that game...
To know is wise, but to understand is a far worthier goal.

Haha... Yeah tell me about it... I don't fully understand it either....

Just try to picture a seven year old trying to get it.... He was totally lost. He only got excited when my brother changed a city's name into his name and started asking him what to built next....

Haha, that's a great idea to get him involved in more advanced games. Civ is a bit too advanced for kids, though if you take it a step at a time it's probably worth it. They learn to horribly fast in that age

I started playing it at 8 actually. When you're that young the game isn't that advanced at all. It's simple. You build MASSIVE armies and take over the world city by city. Conquest is the only way to go with a little kid's mindset. I was a right little jerk. I would make allies with people only to have a way to sneak my armies up and surround their cities then attack everywhere at once. It's only when you get older that you have enough of a moral compass to feel a tad guilty about that approach. Then you start trying for diplomatic PEACEFUL victories and it gets hard. Ain't that true of most things in life?

Wait till you hear what he learned (on christmass day) from Civ....

-Hey, what did you build over ther?

-It's a mausoleum!!

-Do you know what a mausoleum is????

-No what is it?

-It's a tomb for importand people.....

.....

-And what's that? The one that is being built now.

-These are the pyramids!!!

-..... Do you know what's the use of pyramids?

-The king lived there!!

-No the king was dead there.... It's a tomb again....

Hahah you are so right...

Ahahah Yeah, you don't really read all the nice historical fact textboxes in the game, I click away those very quickly as well Hmm... they should have an educational mode where short clips of educational movies show up for this and that, I could use that myself

OOOH! I'm totally going to do those too. *Cough* They're for my son..... *Shifty eyes* : ) I think that Fantasy Music is a great way to cultivate imagination, particularly children's' ones because it is so emotive. The music really describes the scenes it's accompanying. : )
