I certainly echo the desire for a dark site. The colouration of the current one is perfect. I too work in a mostly unlit room using a backlit keyboard. The different channels is an awesome idea. Sometimes I'm working to some relaxing Celtic music and an epic orchestral battle scene thunders through! All good stuff, but people have moods.... As for Role-Playing, I'm 44 and spent from the ages of about 13 to 23 playing almost every day, all as a DM. I get very melancholy flicking through some of the new D&D stuff. All of my old players said that if I ever picked up the dice they would be straight to the table. Mmmm. Anything on the new site with a Role-Playing slant would be welcome.

You must've been doing a whole lot of things right as a DM, and it's a craft that one tends to get better with age. I hope you'll yet gather your party and venture forth!

Being a devoted roleplayer, I, too, would love to see more roleplaying related stuff here. I'm not quite sure what they would be, though, aside from of course increasing RPG discussion on the forums.

Mood-based channels would of course be a tremendous help in using Radio Rivendell as a gamemastering resource. That way the cheerful tavern scene doesn't take a sudden apocalyptic undertone.

Perhaps the guilds might prove helpful here (which Lord Elrond has talked about being made more visible). At the moment there seems to be a Roleplayers' Guild with a single member. The guild seems oddly named, considering the names of the other guilds (Bards', Illustrators', Scribes'...). How about calling it the Adventurers' Guild? I'm not quite sure what its function would be, though, compared to the Roleplaying section of the forums. I'm sure Lord Elrond would appreciate any ideas!

I too would like a dark theme! My goal is first to finish the site with one theme, and then make a dark theme for our darker friends out there

And I will also try to add more roleplaying things to the site, feel free to give me suggestions to on what this could be!

Oh, perhaps a few of you haven't been with us when I tried this one out: Rivendell soundboard (click Tab 1!)

And I have thoughts of a dice roller. Perhaps not so much fun as real dice though

Yeah, the guilds could definitely need some more definition and focus. They're pretty basic now and I can ge rearranged and changed for sure

Thanks MuadMouse, if I ever get something going you guys will be the first to know! Lord Elrond, that soundboard certainly has potential, especially if loops could be put on. As far as Roleplay content, I have always had a love of maps and floorplans. More could be made of that element. Maybe expand on where we are within Rivendell, I don't quite "get" the current feature... Just a thought off topic, are these forums upside down? New posts seem to go at the bottom of the last page, not the top of the first.

The RadioRivendell soundboard!! Some good potential there. Needs work but could turn up to be a neat feature. @ ShadowMaster. There are loops but they are a bit rigit. Roleplayer's of Radiorivendell unite!! We could make this feature fly...

That's an excellent idea! After all, maps, floorplans, etc are something that a GM tends to use only once, so sharing them with others would multiply their usefulness. That would probably work best via the Game masters' Guild, so that players don't stumble onto them, thus accidentally spoiling it for themselves.

I tend to draw my maps and write down my notes in pencil with a light hand, so I'm not sure how many maps I have ready for scanning, but I guess I could trace them over. That'll have to wait, though, I have to get this character downtime story to write.

Yes, all atmosphere sounds should be looped properly. The current demo implementation has crappy support for loops. It stutters and restarts, which is awkward. But my intention is to get real and seamless loops!

Haha, yeah. That map of where people are is quite experimental and weird. I had the idea of a map over Rivendell that shows where people are. It would be cool to see that people are in the forums, the chat or just listening to the music. But sometimes you do all of those at the same time, so I guess the whole thing will be weird

Some forums (fora?) have an option to put the most recent post at the top on the first page, or at the bottom of the first page. It gives fewer clicks to get to the most recent posts. For me, I almost always use the "unread posts" link, if there is one, so I don't worry about where they really are, though I like to read top to bottom (meaning last post at the bottom of the page) because most people read top to bottom.

On current RR, I click to the forum and then click through individually to the new posts since the links on the right sidebar don't always show all the unread posts. Then I use the "new topics" icon on each board to go to the new posts.

We'll see if I can improve things and add the option to read all new posts in one big flow. That would be really nice. It's quite awkward to click through each and every topic to look for spam and such. Oh, and I think I should try to construct some sort of spam-bot-function so that each of you can cast your vote for spammy topics. That way it will be easier for me (or a moderator) to just remove all marked posts and topics and users with a click. Self-sanitation FTW!

Yay! Time to get this on the road! I'm a bit stuck with things I need to do in order to do the upgrade. And we need the upgrade, it holds better forum handling and some other stuff. But I will get this done this year, hopefully before late autumn. Things will start piling up after that as life will hit me around that time

It has been mentioned before that it would be cool to be able to choose a "Dark " version or "Light" version for Radiorivendell or to be able to unlock certain features with XP or even use XP to make spells on the chat room to each other (war imminent).

Do you have any suggestions on this matter ?

My answer is YES YES YES! Due to our spam explosion we need to gamify early, and you should need to update your profile, add an image, write a little text, choose light or dark and stuff before you are allowed forum access. And some levels should also be "timed", so it will fade over time if you don't earn XP. Perhaps I could to remove the banners for those with a certain "reputation". So you will work for getting rid of the banners. And spells, that would be great fun!

Any tthoughts on RadioRivendell's new chapter? Would it be nice if there were more things to do when logged in? Any suggestions?

Maps...Hallowed Halls...where we are when logged in, can this be developed along with a roleplay facility?

To be able to visit various places in a story? To be invited in as we travel or sent out? High potential, but maybe not in the Rivendell mandate....maybe the Initiate known as Release doth offend, O I plead not.
