Every day new news reaches lord of the ring Shadows of Angmar to us from turbine and the on-line role play. There are pictures and many reports, one can also admire some videos. As already in the past we draw lots for beta places again, nevertheless, calls in simply sometimes. http://www.lotr-online.de/cms

Updates on LOTROOA. LOTRO is still currently in the Closed Beta stages, and had a server stress test this past weekend. Since the NDA is yet still in effect, little more can be said. As of the 1st of February, Canada and US gaming stores (such as EBGames and GameStop) will have the special Pre-Order 'Founders' sets for purchase. Becoming a Founder entitles you to begin playing on March the 30th (the start of the official Open Beta) and also allows you to carry your characters over from the Open Beta into the official launch of the game. Those in the EU have a similar offer presented to them. If you do not live in the EU or Canada/USA, then I'm not sure what options are available to you unfortunately. More information on pre-ordering the game and becoming a Founder can be found here. The game will cost roughly $15US a month to play, or if you pre-order $10US a month. There also is an option for those who pre-order to pay a one time fee of $199US which will allow them to play the game without paying any subsequent subscription fees for the duration that the game exists. Further information as well as fees for those in the EU and so on can be found be checking the above link.

At least he posted in a relevant thread. What an intelligent spammer, can we kidnap him and use him for nefarious purposes?

Was it just me or was LOTRO quite dull? I bought it and played it once. It didn't inspire me very much. Okay that they have all the famous sites and cities. But... nah, didn't interest med too much. It didn't feel quite finished. The user interface wasn't that polished.

I was lucky and got to play it while it was in the closed beta stage since they let me in, but to be honest my first initial thoughts where, "Hmmm feels like WoW but just skinned to LOTR locations and characters!" It seems to be very similar IMO, though I guess all fantasy MMORPG's will feel like WoW since it was really the first successful one, much as I hate the dreaded WoW world domination. I will probably buy the game one day and maybe subscribe but pay 2 play online gaming never seems to hold me for long. I played Eve for a long time and then I sort of just drifted off from it. For online gaming I stick to Neverwinter Nights 1 that was truely an awesome online gaming experience and free. I was a server admin though (for a long time till we shut down) so I guess I'm sort of biased anyway!! lol

I am playing the game on the US server Elendilmir and having a great time. In fact I suppose I am addicted. I played the last alpha (summer 2006) the three betas and got a founder's lifetime membership. I enjoy the fact I can be casual and roleplay a lot, play music on instruments and tell tales. I also like the kinship I am in and have made many friends. I wish folks in Europe could play on the same servers as the ones in the US. Never having played any other MMORPG I don't have any preconceived ideas about how things should work or what is better. Instead I am enjoying the lore and the art of the world come alive. I hope to see some of you in game if you play. My game characters are Laurefinde, Makalaure, Cotumo and Alteru. My kinship is The Gathering of Laurelin and our alliance of kinships is called Valacirca.

Thts an interesting thing that alot of MMORPG's seem to be following atm. Spliting the Europe and the American players through servers. Only Eve and a few others let inter-atlantic relatiosn happen lol. This is probably why I server admined on Neverwinter Nights 1 for a few years, because I met some really fun and cool people from America as well as many other wierd places in the world lol. I may check LOTR Online out smetime but paying for one online game is enough these days (Unless a miracle happens and soem become free or cheaper). The point being, worldwide servers are the way to go if its kept to a single language (or not perhaps).

Did not felt that great when I beta tested it for free. So why pay for it? Nah...just waiting for Age of Conan now.

I personally still love the game even if the new expansion adds some things I don't like. Now though we can get into Moria and from everything I have seen moria is done correctly. If you want to play in the world of tolkein, if you want to RP in the world of Tolkein, come join us on elendilmir!

I do believe that LotR online would be rather interesting. Yeah, it seems that way. A couple of my friends play and they've managed this weird ass hobbit adopted by a dwarf crap. I think the one thing that I like, despite having never played is they have that lifetime membership thing. Basically it's saying, here, I'll play for two years. Anything after that is just awesomeroxorsox bonus time. That and apparently you don't have to be a warlock to be a completely worthless class. If I ever play I'm going to be a minstrel. I'm just sad they don't have gnomes. Hobbits are nowhere near gnome awesomeness.
