Okay people! I have made a huge breakthrough with a thing I thought would be the biggest issue... the forum. But I successfully made a copy of the forum software today to the new server and upgraded it to phpBB 3 (we're currently running the not supported phpBB 2.0.x). It didn't take too long to upgrade. Phew! This means that we could actually start moving to the new server pretty quick. The place were things happen at the moment is the forum and music rating. I think we could live without voting for a week or two until it has been fixed on the new server. What do you think? I get a headache every time I think of my poor old current admin interface for the music.

Rating is secondary next to the forum, therefore IMHO I think everyone can live without the ratings for a couple of weeks. The forum is really the big issue here, the one to be handled with great care. I see you're really busy with this, but if you still need assistance with the whole load-music-from-dir-and-synch-with-DB thing, please let me know.

Okay test squad! Those of you who are daring enough can give the new forum a shot! Remember, this is phpBB3 with the default skin. No modifications done and the migration seemed to work fine. What I need you to do is to log in, see that avatars and images works. "What you do here does NOT echo in eternity" The database will be wiped just before the final migration. So login and see that your profile looks just like it should that you can post and stuff. If this works I'll prepare for the move. http://83.233.165.20/~radioriv/forum/ The forum and rating will be shut down during the migration process so that no posts or ratings will be lost.

Lord Elrond... I logged in to new forum succesfully, with my usual account username and password then i edited one of my own messages and it works (the avatars, the messages, pictures etc showed in fine way) it seems working perfectly...yahooo!!!

I was able to log in and see everything. Couple points of interest that I noticed right away: 1. The poster's information that normally shows up on the left side here, shows up on the right side. Not sure if this is intentional or if this is just a symptom of the current board theme. 2. The profile ranks show both the text AND the image (just like it did when we first started using the rank images). Otherwise it's looking good.

Wow, that was a surprise seeing the NEW FORUM! My question is when I click on larger for print it doesn't change normal to larger and doesn't really change the size of the print just keeps putting in the code. Sorry not computer literate. Maven you looked good with the new forum. But did not know about the banner.

Witchy, a standard browser feature that I have noticed (at least on IE and Firefox), is that if you hold down the <Ctrl> key and hit the <+> key on the number pad, the text in your browser will enlarge (and reduce if you use the <Ctrl> key with the <-> key on the number pad). This doesn't directly fix this problem with the new forum, but it may enhance your overall internet-surfing experience.

Thanks all for testing this out! It sounds as if it works well enough for the final migration! Most things that are different is because our modifications in our current forum haven't been made in the new one. It's the default theme with the default look. We'll start from there and put our own features in there as time goes by The new board will of course be remade to resemble the normal site as much as possible. It's "just a matter of making a board theme"

The one thing that I would definitely like to see as default is having the portraits on the left side. It weirds me out to have them on the right side.

Haha, yes, I haven't thought about that. I'll try to find a theme with a similar look to what we have today. Portraits to the right sounds utterly mad
