Yeah, we won't get rich at all unfortunately. It's mainly for fun, just like the other compilations

Last night I was thinking a bit about the story, and I have to say i prefer maven's idea to mine, about the quest of a human boy and a goblin girl, or the opposite. It can have a nice fairy-talish feeling, with a lot of music diversity depending on their different encounters. An example I thought of, of how the story might start (and fit in the music we have already): -Everything is nice and dreamy in a colourful, beautiful town. Until the day their town is attacked by orcs (here comes the music we did with orkpack). Within all the panic, fires and disaster a little boy/girl is seperated from her family when she was told by his/her mother to make her way out of the town's walls in order to survive, since the battle seems already lost and orcs are about to raid the town. -While the little kid tries to make his way out, he encounters a little goblin slave tied up in ropes with noone around. Probably the town's hunters found them in the forest, and since goblins are considered evil, they captured him in order to use him as a little slave/servant. Now the kid has the choice to leave him tied up and die by the bloodthirsty orcs, or to free him. Obviously he decides to free him, since the kids heart is still kind, young and hopeful. And then the kid runs away and their ways split. -Once the kid is out of the town's walls, when the night falls, he starts to hear weird sounds coming from the trees and the bushes. Scared from the scary noises, he grabs a big rock to protect himself, but then, it proves that it's the little goblin, following him all this time. The goblin feels that he owes his life to the kid, so he wants to follow him and return the favour by aiding his quest, whatever that is , or maybe they find out that they share a common quest... Just a generic idea about how the story starts. Sorry about my english, obviously someone else has to write these things A story like that contains already 2-3 tracks till this time. (with a very different feeling each) 1)A fairytalish, colourful track as prologue, inspired by the beautiful and peaceful town. 2)The orc attack music 3)Something mysterious probably since the little kid is followed by something unknown in the dark.

I like this idea a lot, and can clearly see it playing out in my head. To take it a step further, the human should have to kill an orc (blind luck!) in the attempt to rescue the gobbo, and of course the human child believes his/her parents have been killed by the orcs and vows vengeance on them. And while the goblin is clearly upset by his/her captivity, he/she can't help but feel...something...for the human who saved him/her from certain death. So on top of the conflict of natural hatred towards humans (and same vice-versa) there are feelings of love/compassion for the human's brave efforts to save the goblin from certain doom. OK, it sounded much better in my head, but this way in addition to the three tracks listed, you can add a mournful, almost funeral dirge for the humans who lost their lives defending the town, with a deepened note of sadness for the human who believes his/her family is no more. Or something like that, anyways... It's early and my coffee hasn't kicked in yet!

haha. Actually it sounds very nice. We'll give everything a final lifting in the end, once the general idea has been built so don't worry about this. + A sad track sounds perfectly normal in this part of story.

Sounds like you're onto something here! I love the idea of a story unfolding with the music as backdrop. Just what we did with "A book of War"

Wow! I'm blown away by these ideas. I can actually see the movie playing in my head. One thing we'd have to get nailed down, if the story goes in this direction: is a goblin the same or different from an orc? I know it all gets mixed up by Tolkien and others.

I'd vote for a different one. DnD style. The orcs bit more bloodthirsty and muscular. Goblins a little cuter, in a weird sort of way.

Shall we try to make the playlist for the new compilation, and assign each track to a composer? for example: 01. A fairytalish, colourful track as prologue, inspired by the beautiful and peaceful town. (composer ?) 02. Orcs attacking music and battle. (composed by Orkpack & Arcana Chronicles) 03. Sad music, after the kid escapes from the battle but find's out he is probably the only survivor. Realises He has no family left alive (composer ?) 04. Mysterious but mischievous music, as the little goblin the kid saved earlier, is following him/her in the dark. (composer ?) 05.? 06.? 07.? 08.? 09.? 10.? 11.? 12.?

Hmm....When i take a look at the albums I like best its the albums which describe a journey or a special place (for exampl: Into the blue - Erdenstern and Atlantis a symphonic journey - David Arkenstone), so personally I would think of some sort of combination. Probally it would be like the writing style of tolkien where he would take a lot of time to describe the surroundings and the place but also describes a journey. This journey can be in many ways. For example a village which is attacked could for example be such a journey. Altough I must say this has been done before (I can think of for exaple into the red by erdenstern who did this).

I think you would want to go to many different place with your compilation album so for example this is a story which comes into mind:

Song 1

There is a peacefull village somewhere in a forrest where people live and don't bother so much about the outside world (like a lot of fantasy stories start). the village has many aspects and in the first song we get an idea about how peacefull this village is

Song 2

In this village lives our main protagonist which we "meet" trough our seccond song. in this song we see some more of the village and we really get the feeling its a desolate place where somewhat naive people live.

Song 3

But the peace never is forever in a fantasy world so one day the village is invaded by the dark forces which march into the village killing many people and destroying lots of the nice things.

Song 4

Our many protagonist now lives in this nightmare where all the fun is gone and there is no more hope. He has to go work as a slave every day and altough he wants to be free there is no way.

Song 5

Then one day a wizard visits him (just to keep the standaard fantasy cliché). The wizard tells him of a plan to destroy the evil forces but he needs the help of our main protagonist. The wizard tells him of a magical sword (again just taking the cliché here) which is hidden somewhere in the land. if he can get this sword he can destroy the evil forces and be free again.

Song 6

Out main protagonist has to say farewell to his family and friends before he goes on this journey. but this farewell is interrupted by the dark forces which got air of his idea and want to stop him. so he has to flee the village in a hurry and get on the road.

Song 7

He now goes trough the forrests surrounding his villages. Our protagonist never really travelled before and everything looks scary to him. He doesn't know where he is going and is just wandering in the hopes he will find where he is going. And still he is afraid the dark forces are still chasing him so he has to keep moving.

Song 8

Then he meets the fairies who live in the forrest. They take him to theire land which he looks at. He has never seen so much beauty before. The fairie worlds is something he always dreamed of but never saw it before and now finally he can see al the marvels.

Song 9

He is take infront of the fairy king which tells him where he should go to find the sword. During this speach he can't take his eyes of the marvels of the throne room of the fairy king, also the queen of the fairies is the most beautyfull being he has ever seen.

Song 10

After his visit at the fairies he now knows where to go and goes underway. He got a horse from the fairies and rides over the plains to the mountains where the fairies said he had to go to find the sword.

Song 11

Before he reaches his destination he is ambushed by small men wielding axes and other blunt weapons. They take him as prissoner after they traped him. He doesn't know where they are going and is afraid his final our will be very soon.

Song 12

He is brought infront of the king of the dwarves where he explains his story. In the large underground halls of the dwarven city the dwarven king tells him they are in war with the dark forces also and tought he was a spy. He tries to convice them but the dwarves don't trust him and he is trown in the dungeons.

Song 13

While he is rotting in the dungeons the wizard comes visiting him again. He tells him to be very sorry. He was delayed by the dark forces. But now he is here to help our protagonist and get him out. The wizard talks with the dwarven king and not long they are free again and the dwarven king tells them where the sword is.

Song 14

The sword is high up the dark mountain. The wizard and protagonist go up this vulcano. The road is very dangerous and but in the end they make it to the top and find the sword.

Song 15

But the dark forces expected them to come here and there is a trap. The wizard is attacked by a very strong demon, and after a fierece fight the battle ends in a draw. In his last breath the wizard tells our protagonis where to find the leader of the dark forces and then dies.

Song 16

Our protagonist now inraged by the death of the wizard goes on a furious journey towards the place where the leader of the dark forces is. He crosses plains, rivers, mountains and forrests untill he finally find what he is looking for.

Song 17

After sneaking past the guards our protagonist challenges the leader of the dark forces in a final duel. He expect the sword will easily work but the leader of the dark forces is corrupting and tries to get him to the dark side. When he almost is converted the spirit of the wizards comes to visit him and reminds him who he is and with one final blow he destroys the leader of the dark forces.

Song 18

The world is saved now the leader is destroyed the dark forces start to flee and everything is getting back to normal. This story ends with the protagonis coming home again where he is greeted with a large feast honoring him and all people who lost theire live in the battles.

Another idea I had, and I'm just throwing this out, is to use an established, out-of-copyright story, like Lord Dunsany's "The Sword of Welleran" or "The Fortress Unvanquishable, Save for Sacnoth". Allanon, your proposal story in the beginning sounds alot like "Fable - The Lost Chapters",which is really nice.

We can on the other hand think of somethin non-cliché orientated.

Think of someting that came out straight from Pratchett's novels like Discworld for example. Something goofy and unusual, but in the same time original and carrying that deep fantasy aura. With lots of forests, castles, goblins, wizards, maidens,orcs and what not...even something with steam punk roots would be interesting. Let's your imagination to do the job folks, i'm just proposing an idea that will be remembered. Why do we have to take allready used ideas when we have the abillity to build our own and unique. I'm not the person who can invent this... WE ALL ARE !

Sounds good, I'd love to write a track! Innocence / happiness / mysterious / celtic are my signature, so maybe a peaceful track for after the war? Or the fairytailish proloque Qeiynn is talking about, or the farewell Allanon describes, or the fairies in the woods... I already love where this is going!

Haha, just noticed.

I like Qeiynn story start more than Allanon (but it's also good story), I think we need to try to make new things. But as I'm only good at enjoining your music and stories I can only collaborate saying what I think and buying it.
