Posted by VrapogatAllanon, your proposal story in the beginning sounds alot like "Fable - The Lost Chapters",which is really nice.We can on the other hand think of somethin non-cliché orientated.Think of someting that came out straight from Pratchett's novels like Discworld for example. Something goofy and unusual, but in the same time original and carrying that deep fantasy aura. With lots of forests, castles, goblins, wizards, maidens,orcs and what not...even something with steam punk roots would be interesting. Let's your imagination to do the job folks, i'm just proposing an idea that will be remembered. Why do we have to take allready used ideas when we have the abillity to build our own and unique. I'm not the person who can invent this... WE ALL ARE !

Yeah maybe something non-cliché would be better indeed. I like the idea of incorperating Steam Punk. Into the Light from erdenstern comes to mind then. They got some really nice tracks on it which represend steampunk very well. I believe they participated with the last compilation also so they probally would be willing to participate this time again.

Maybe a story about someone who travels trough time would be nice then? You could have music from different (fantasy) time periods and also have some kind of story in it.

It sound interesting.

May also be a God that remembering the history of the world and its habitants in different epochs and moments (creation of the world, growing live, wars, peace, etc.) and may finally be him to be a mortal and enter the world as one more.

I'm intrigued by the time-travel idea. Why would our story/characters be travellibg through time? What would be tbe mechanism by which they travel? (magical portal? time machine? eternal life?) Let me give this some thoughts

Well I could think of something like Highlander where the person just is immortal and sees the world change all round him.

Else I can see an motivation like in the time machine by hg wells where the character tries to change the present but to do that he has to go back only to find he can't change it. You could make him go even more back to see if he can alter it then etc. and when he can't find the solution in the past he tries to find it in the future.

If you want something more original I could think of someone who is born in a future world which is torn apart by war. He can't live with it. Searching for a better world he goes back in the past to find a period where he can live. But which ever era he encounters, altough it looks good at first glance the war is there every time because its part of humanity to wage wars.

Great ideas. This could be something!

Hello my friends! Here is Maven, back from her journeys in Middle-earth and ready to get to work. Reviewing the posts, Elrond has decided to go with the theme something like "The Book of Ages" for the RR Compilation, Volume 3. He now needs a little help from us:

1. Composers willing to contribute a track. (There are some here who have already agreed. Thanks! You will be contacted)

2. A frame story idea. Is this compilation about a Sorcerer's Apprentice who reads his master's spell book and gets catapulted through the ages? Or an evil wizard who sends his rival through the ages? Or a hero who lives forever? Or the history of a great family throughout the ages? What?

3. A list of the Ages to be used. What would be some cool Ages to hear music from?

*The Age of Gods and Heroes?

*The Age of Magic?

*The Thousand Year War?

As far as a time-traveling idea runs, I like the idea of having a single family and then the events of their history being told over a long period of time. It can allow the CD to be really expansive and there can also be an underlying theme that connects all the events for the purpose of a substory or plot twist.

Then again.. an album chronicling the dawn of time could be amazing as well. I can see that idea spawning a multitude of possibilities.
